Women Development Cell

         Women's Development and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the enlistment and progress of our nation. To make NPR  College of Engineering & Technology a strong kernel of gender sensitization, the Women Development Cell (WDC) was constituted in 2013. The Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works to create a gender-sensitized community within the campus as well as in society.

Vision:

  • Molding and enlightening young minds and paving their way to grow into balanced and better human beings

Mission:

  • To encourage female students to be self-reliant and economically independent. 
  • To instill positive self-esteem and confidence in the female students so they can make the right decisions in and for their lives
  • Spreading awareness among the students about the social, legal, and constitutional rights of women to prevent exploitation based on gender.
  • Making females cognizant of different kinds of violence: sexual, physical, and mental and to further equip them with the knowledge and strength to fight against them.
  • Creating awareness about the need for gender equality.
  • Providing equal career opportunities to all genders.
  • Eliminating deep-rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination

 

Objectives •    

  • To resolve issues about girls'/women's sexual harassment.
  • To resolve issues through the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
  • To equip the female students, faculty, and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.
  • To safeguard the rights of female students, faculty, and staff members.
  • To provide a platform for listening to complaints and redressal of grievances.
  • To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college.
  • To ensure personality along with academic development of students.

Events Details

Women Development cellhad organized “Cancer Awareness Program”on 28.06.2019. Dr.Vijaya, MBBS, DGOGovernment Hospital, Dindigulwas the expert speaker on this occasion. She told that better awareness about breast cancer and its early detection can greatly reduce the need for more advanced forms of treatment like chemotherapy and that this form of cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, but many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. This is why regular breast cancer screening is so important. She also answered the quires of students and faculty members about this disease. Around 280 girls and 20 faculty members participated in this program. The program was successful inproviding information about Cancer Awareness.

Women Development Cell organized Swatch Bharat Mission program for girls students in NPR college of Engineering & Technology. The Chief Guest discussed about the Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and also explained Swatch Bharat  launched by the Government of India to solve the problems of sanitation and waste management in India by ensuring hygiene across the country. The Students are gain the knowledge to keep our own room and surroundings, clean to maintain the cleanliness.

Women Development Cell had organized the Legal Awareness Program for girls  in NPR college of Engineering & Technology. The Chief GuestMrs.S.Dhana Lakshmi, Senior Advocate, Madurai gave the impart practical knowledge about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various women related laws, thereby making them fit to face the challenges in real life situations. To create awareness about the various machineries of the Justice delivery system available for redressal of their problems/grievances and also explained about the Legal Awareness Program aims to empower the youth of our country with the knowledge of their legal rights and duties, ultimately to be able to share power equally, gain full access to the means of development and to inspire a whole generation of women to work together towards achieving gender equality and justice.

An Awareness program on Personality Development was organized for the girl students of NPR College of Engineering & Technology. It was discussed that girls should learn and practice self-defense techniques in case of emergencies. They should know proper usage of internet and social media. Also it was discussed that safety measures should be taken while travelling.

Students are participated in the program effectively and also learn the safety measures for girls students.Mrs.S.Dhana Lakshmi Senior Advocate  delivered the excellent speech about Safety measures. Mrs.S.Sridevi,Soft Skill Trainer delivered a lecture on Status of “Women Empowerment in India” to the girl students of NPR College of Engineering &Technology. She discussed about the changes in the status of women in India over the fast few decades. She highlighted that the progress of our nation very much depends on the improvement of women’s education and status in society. She motivated girl students to make utilize of the technical education to get a good job and they should share their responsibilities to form a gender-equal society. The student’s activity interacted with the resource person and shared their views on ways of improving the status of women in India.

WDC - HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM

A Health Awareness Program was organized for the girls students of NPR College of Engineering &Technology by PWD, Uluppakudi. Created health Awareness among the girls. They discussed that girls should take healthy diet and should drink sufficient amount of water to prevent any disease. She also suggested remedies for stress relief. Psychological counseling was given to the girls to improve the level of self confidence.
