ABOUT DEPARTMENT

Commerce is arguably the most popular academic choice in India. Keeping in view the contemporary business environment the program is shaped to acquire full knowledge related to corporate finance, stock markets and the inner financial functioning of various profit and non-profit institutions and the economy, on the whole.

                       It consists of interdisciplinary branches such as Accountancy, Business Administration, Banking, Insurance, Business Statistics, Business laws & Taxation laws, Investment Management, Marketing strategy, Human Resource Management and basic computer skills.                                                         

The Department of commerce was started in the year 2005. At present we have 210 young blooming stars, those who are in the wings of Six faculty highly qualified, well experienced and committed who can set very good academic standards and valuable thoughts. Apart from providing educational background to the students the department promotes moral values and strives for the quality improvement of students.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • To achieve cent percent results in UG Programe
  • To achieve minimum 5 university Ranks
  • To continuously improve the performance of the students through evaluation, counseling, Monitoring and Mentoring.
  • To improve the effectiveness of the course content and course delivery programme by analyzing the student performance in the examination.
  • To improve the level of specialized knowledge of the student.

SCOPE OF COMMERCE:

  • Commerce:

                            After completing the B.Com course the students can study the following,

  • Professional courses:

                             CA, ICWAI, ACS, etc.,

  • Non professional courses:

                              M.Com, M.Com (CA), MBA, MFC, MCA, and other PG courses.

  • Competitive exams:

                              Bank exams (BRB), Railway exam (RRB), Civil services, TNPSC (All Groups),SSC (Staff Selection Commission), etc.,

  • Job Opportunities:

                              Account Managers, Account Consultants, Financial Advisors, Financial Managers, Filling Income Tax, etc.,

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • To develop entrepreneurial skill.
  • To lay foundation for Professional courses like ACS/CMA/ACA for commerce graduates.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates seeking admission to B.Com. (Professional Accounting) Semester Degree Course shouldhave passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu (or) and other examination accepted as equivalent by the Syndicate of Madurai Kamaraj University
