About the Department

The revolution in computer technology has deeply influenced our way of life, our culture and our economy. Our department is definitely special and offering students and faculty anunusual blend of very high expectations and exceptional quality of life. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NPRCET, Natham was started in the year 2008. The department has an intake of 120 students in under graduate program. Things move quickly around here at Internet Speed. That means we have to be nimble, both in how we educate and how we train. We train pupil to be great at lots of things, inspire big challenges and welcome big changes. Department of ComputerScience & Engineering is to produce high quality Computer Science and Engineering professionals to adapt to the changing environment, with all-round Managerial capabilities, and commitment to the Society. Our Value added Course is providing an equal opportunity for every student to reach the star. Alumni and students continually remind us that pursuing a degree in the department of Computer Science & Engineering is an experience rarely matched elsewhere. The Department has been maintaining an active interaction with the industries particularly with the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering had received 13 university ranks in Anna University Examinations.

Program Outcomes (POs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to: 

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. 
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences. 
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. 
PO4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. 
PO5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations. 
PO6 The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice. 
PO7 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Dr. M. Indra Devi is an accomplished professional with expertise in   Computer Science and Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. from Anna University Chennai, awarded in 2010. Dr. Indra Devi has demonstrated academic excellence throughout her career, achieving First Class with Distinction in both her B.E. and M.E. degrees. Her professional journey includes significant roles in various educational institutions, with extensive experience as a Professor and Head of Department in Computer Science and Engineering. Currently, she serves as a Professor and Head of the CSE Department at NPR  College of Engineering and Technology,  Natham. Dr. Indra Devi has a robust research background, with a notable patent titled "Automated Web Page Classification" granted in the United States in 2015.    Furthermore, she has provided academic research guidance and supervision, mentoring several Ph.D. scholars who have completed their research work under her guidance. The topics of research cover various aspects of efficient web page classification algorithms, feature selection techniques, outlier detection, and intelligent techniques for analyzing large databases. Dr. M. Indra Devi has made notable contributions in the field of data mining and information technology, with extensive publications in book chapters and journals. Dr. M. Indra Devi's research spans diverse topics, including web page classification, feature selection, genetic algorithms, fuzzy systems, and their applications in data mining. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in these areas. Dr. M. Indra Devi has actively participated in numerous national and international conferences, presenting research findings and contributing to discussions on various topics

Dr. M. Indra Devi has covered a wide range of topics in her conference presentations, including machine learning algorithms for disease prediction, sentiment analysis, smart systems like irrigation and gardening, SQL injection detection, opinion mining, and various applications of data mining and information technology. Her active participation in conferences reflects her commitment to sharing knowledge and staying engaged with the latest developments in her field.

Dr. M. Indra Devi is a distinguished member of several professional societies. Dr. M. Indra Devi has achieved notable recognition by being listed among the top scientists worldwide by Elsevier BV and Stanford University in 2022. This acknowledgment underscores her significant contributions to the field and her standing among leading scientists globally. This achievement reflects her dedication and impact in the academic and scientific community.
